Hi,
I’m Maria and I tell stories for a living. For kids, grown-ups, companies, products and everything in between.
It all started when I first laid eyes on a magazine.
I was coming back home from kindergarten with my dad and I saw it on display in the corner shop near our house. I begged him to buy it for me, but such posh expenses were not on my family’s shopping list (home is where the savings are). My immediate reaction to leaving without it: “I’ll start a revolution for it!” – granted, I was a super impressionable kid that watched the commie regime being taken down by the people in the streets. Everything seemed possible after that!
Core belief: there’s a story behind EVERYTHING.
Brands, places, products, companies. And I love discovering it and bringing it to light!
On top of my portfolio & experience, here are some random things about me:
Languages I speak: PPC, SEO, SEM. Pretty much everything Google. Oh, yeah, and decent Spanish too!
I’m originally from the heart of Transylvania – Bram Stoker’s Transylvania! I come from a small medieval town, with cobblestone streets, towers and Vampires legends at every step.
Studies: growing up watching Ally McBeal, I thought being a lawyer would be the perfect way to make my parents proud & make a difference, while still having time to dance. I graduated magna cum laude from Law School (ugh, the “good girl” syndrome), but never practiced a day in my life. Got a job at an advertising company and have been writing my way to happiness ever since.
Hobbies: reading, writing, sunbathing, traveling. Preferably, all at once. Also, I collect magazines. Ever since I can remember. Even started my own, in the 6th grade. The boy I liked stole it from my backpack, read it and returned saying “it’s really cool”. I died.
Superpower: storytelling. From fascinating first-person essays, to unique feature angles rooted in modern trends, round-ups, reviews and web pages, my writing skills do for B2C or B2B content what filters do for Instagram photos. Hey, I’m not bragging! That’s what people who have worked with me say about the end result!
Flaws: world’s worst pitcher (and that’s particularly bad for a freelancer), cranky when sleep deprived, always hungry for knowledge – basically OCD when it comes to finding the specific detail that makes something great even better -, and pizza.
